Purpose of the Program

This program is designed to provide you with knowledge and skills that will enhance your value in the Aviation Industry environment and will also prepare you to undertake the CASA Commercial Pilot Licence Theory & Flight tests. In addition to your Commercial Pilot Licence training, you may elect to undertake courses in either Instrument or Instructor Ratings.

The Associate Degree in Aviation provides a tertiary award in conjunction with a structured aviation training program on campus at Point Cook, and on the RMIT City Campus where you will be required to attend classes for aviation theory. This program meets the requirements of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority through the provision of theory and practical training. The program contains relevant and appropriate courses encompassing cognitive, technical and communication skills.

The program design and associated capability development has been endorsed by a range of Aviation industry experts, consisting of senior pilots and operations personnel from Australia's major airlines and aerospace organisations.

This program offers capstone project based learning via training  to gain higher level CASA pilot licences either at Instrument or Flight Instructor Rating levels. These licences focus on  Australian aviation requirements, where you are able apply your critical thinking, judgment, problem-solving skills, and industry legislative knowledge as a capstone goal.
