The Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Laboratory Medicine) provides with knowledge and skills in the major disciplines of Laboratory Medicine. This program with its professional practice component is designed to provide a qualification which will fully prepare you for employment in diagnostic pathology or medical research locally, nationally and internationally.
During Year 3 and 4 of the program you will undertake the following capstone experiences:
- MEDS2202 Professional Practice Laboratory Medicine 1
- MEDS2203 Advanced Laboratory Medicine 1
The program is also a pathway to postgraduate studies in Laboratory Medicine, such as PhD by research.
Delivery mode is face to face and requires on campus attendance.

As a successful graduate of BP147P21 Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Laboratory Medicine), you may (upon application) be eligible for credit into other RMIT University programs. This program has been discontinued. The last intake for students was Semester 2 2022
BP147P21 Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Laboratory Medicine) program will be formally discontinued from Semester 1, 2024 and all students will be transferred into the BH129 Bachelor of Laboratory Medicine (Honours) program from then on.

Successful completion of an Australian Year 12 senior secondary certificate of education or equivalent.

Prerequisites
Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL; Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in one of Biology or Chemistry; Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in one of any Mathematics or Physics
English language requirements
A minimum IELTS (Academic module) overall score of 6.5, with no band below 6.0; or equivalent.
