The Cert III in Clothing and Textile Production prepares graduates for all aspects of manufacturing garments as well as repairing and altering garments to an industry standard. This program covers the clothing production stream and not textile production.
The program provides students with a broad understanding of the garment production in an enterprise as well as equipping the student with all the skills needed to use patterns, to cut, sew and finish garments and to do garment repairs and alterations. The program is designed to prepare students for their transition into employment as work ready individuals, and/or further education.

This program is built from information gathered from an Industry Advisory Committee (IAC) at RMIT that consists of high profile industry representatives. The IAC represents the textiles, clothing and footwear industry, and advises on training delivery and assessment and is designed to ensure the School is aligned with current industry standards and practice. In addition, trainers into this program are required to have extensive experience working in the clothing production industry.

Once you are enrolled as a student in this program you will need to allow for expenses other than university tuition fees. Additional expenses may relate to the purchase of lecture notes, textbooks, stationery, consumables such as printer paper, fees levied by commercial internet service providers for internet access outside of the university campus, and other relevant costs.

Industry based production rooms with industrial machinery and pattern making facilities are used in classes'.
