Purpose of the Program

The Master of Engineering (Electronic and Computer) is oriented towards meeting industry and student demand over the next decade.

The program objectives are to:

  • Develop a high level of technical competence in Electronic and Computer Engineering that will enhance your career prospects in relevant industries;
  • Facilitate learning of Electronic and Computer Engineering concepts and applications directly linked to industry needs;
  • Provide a pathway for graduates from engineering and other appropriate degrees to articulate into Electronic and Computer Engineering;
  • Develop a high level of Design, Research, Creative Problem Solving and Teamwork skills, and to promote further research as a natural outcome of successfully completing the program;
  • Develop a high level of Engineering Communication skills in English, across all modes (speaking, listening, writing, drawing and presenting)

Entrance requirements

MC189VI Master of Engineering (Electronic and Computer Engineering) has been discontinued and will not accept new students. 

Academic:

Successful completion of a Bachelor degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or related fields.

English Language Requirements:

  • IELTS – 6.5+ (no band less than 6.0)
  • TOEFL – Paper based = 580+ (TWE 4.5+) 
  • TOEFL – Computer based = 237+ (TWE 4.5+) 
  • REW – Advanced 2 Certificate

If you do not meet the above English Language requirements you may be offered Pre-Program English (15 weeks).

External accreditation and industry links

External Accreditation

The Master of Engineering (Electronic and Computer Engineering) is no longer accredited, although it has been developed to align with the Engineers Australia accreditation framework. Engineers Australia is the professional body responsible for the accreditation of higher education programs that prepare students to practise as professional engineers. Graduates of the Master of Engineering (Electronic and Computer Engineering) may be eligible to apply for membership of Engineers Australia. The Master of Engineering (Electronic and Computer Engineering) was accredited by Engineers Australia between 2011 and 2015..

Student expenses and charges in addition to fees

Once you are enrolled as a student in this program you will need to allow for expenses other than university tuition fees.  Additional expenses may relate to the purchase of lecture notes, textbooks, stationery, consumables such as printer paper, fees levied by commercial internet service providers for internet access outside of the university campus, and other relevant costs.

As part of the program you will have access to specialist laboratories with relevant hardware and software.
