Purpose of the Program

The Master of Commerce is an innovative and extremely flexible postgraduate business program, which provides you with the conceptual business foundations and specialist discipline knowledge and applications necessary to work and operate effectively in a global business environment. The focus of the program is on building the ‘Global Citizen’ with an international curriculum and many opportunities to participate in global work and a ‘Global Intensive’.  The Master of Commerce offers students the opportunity to engage in a global classroom in many global destinations across the globe such as China, USA, Canada, Vietnam and Denmark. These global classrooms are a blend of formal teaching and learning as well as industry engagement at very senior levels for both profit and non-profit global companies.  Many of the companies that the students will visit are Fortune 500 companies.  These companies work hand in hand with RMIT in order to develop the global business person of the future.

This program provides many flexible opportunities to customise and adapt your coursework learning to match your specific interests and career aspirations or needs. The Master of Commerce aims to enhance and support your career in operational, managerial and consulting roles across a broad range of local and global enterprises and settings.

During this program, you will be exposed to a variety of learning experiences and activities that will enhance your ability to interpret business information, prioritise and analyse complex issues, and to formulate plans, strategies, options and solutions. You will participate in classes, activities, and engage in tasks requiring critical analysis and problem-solving. You will identify and analyse a range of strategic issues, and apply theory to cases and practical problems.

A capstone experience will be provided in BUSM4586 Business Research Design which will give you the opportunity to critically reflect on this program’s international curriculum. The course promotes the integration and synthesis of a range of knowledge and skills gained in the program and their application in discipline related global real-world scenarios.

The core research course of this program is BUSM4586 Business Research Design. This course is designed to develop your knowledge of research principles and methods and how to apply them within the contemporary business environment. You will have the opportunity to conduct a research project/proposal and further develop your skills in research methodology.

This program is delivered online.
