This is a skill set designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills to be assessed for a license, subject to successfully passing the VBA exam and also includes five business units of competencies from the Plumbing Training Package.
Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Licensing (RAC-L) Skill Set is designed with 8 single units of competency delivered as a fee-for-service. It is designed for refrigeration and air conditioning (RAC) tradespeople who have completed their Certificate III trade training (registration level) or enrolled in the Certificate III trade training and are seeking to become licensed with the Victorian Building Authority (VBA).
This is required by Part 4 of the Plumbing Regulations 2018, which stipulates licensing arrangements for air-conditioning work in Victoria.

Students completing this skill set will then need to successfully complete the VBA RAC licensing assessment/exam to become the licensed Air Conditioning and refrigeration Worker in the industry.

RMIT requires students to be enrolled or have completed a Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (UEE3220) or Certificate III in Plumbing (CPC32420) prior to enrolment in this skill set.

Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Licensing (RAC-L) Skill Set was developed and approved by VBA (Victoria Building Authority). The theoretical learning in the course is aligned with practical activities and case studies. Specialist teaching facultiies will present case studies and information during a number of your classes, giving you the opportunity to experience real world industry projects.

Once you are enrolled as a student in this program you will need to allow for expenses other than university tuition fees. Additional expenses may relate to the purchase of lecture notes, textbooks, stationery, consumables such as printer paper, fees levied by commercial internet service providers for internet access outside of the university campus, and other relevant costs.
