Program structure and features

Learning and teaching

Courses are delivered in various modes. Face-to-face, online and blended, as well as clustered supervision for the minor thesis option. You have reasonable flexibility in choosing your preferred mode of study or mixing and matching.

RMIT offers a variety of learning and teaching approaches including lectures, seminars, studios, workshops, presentations, group discussions and syndicate work. These are primarily in English.

You will have access to the Learning Hub and other online and digital resources through the myRMIT student portal.

Ongoing assessment throughout the semester includes examinations, essays, reports, oral classes, presentations, group projects, research projects, laboratory projects and practical assignments.

Program structure

The key characteristics of your thesis or project might be:

  • industry partnership
  • collaboration
  • research linked to action
  • positive change for the organisation and individual
  • action learning/action research approaches within a project framework.

You'll be encouraged to see an explicit relationship between research, learning and change.

You'll need to formulate your own topic. You'll have an academic supervisor who has broad expertise in an area related to your topic. Your supervisor will be available for regular consultation and will help you maintain optimal progress.

You must do a research methods course worth at least 12 credit points. We recommend you enrol in Research Design: Theory and Practice in Semester 1.
