Your Google Mail account
RMIT provides all students with a free email account upon enrolment. The University’s email provider is Google Mail (Gmail).
You may already have a personal Gmail account - that’s OK, as you can easily switch between the two.
Accessing your account
The easiest way to access your account is via the student portal, myRMIT. If myRMIT isn’t available, you can still access your email via the Gmail login page. If you do log in via this page, please note the following:
Your Google username is your student number followed by @student.rmit.edu.au
For example: firstname.lastname@example.org
Your default Google password is the letter ‘p’ followed by your date of birth backwards with an exclamation mark ‘!’ at the end
For example: 28 April 1995 is p19950428!
Remember: Don’t check ‘Stay signed in’ when accessing from a public or shared computer. If you have any difficulties logging in, contact the Service and Support Centre
Switch between Google Mail accounts
If you already have a personal Gmail account, you can easily switch between it and your RMIT student email account. To find out how to open multiple Gmail accounts at once and switch between them, visit the Google mail help site.
Go to Google@RMIT for more information about using Google.
If you have any queries, please contact the Service and Support Centre.
