Approach to learning and assessment

Program Information

The approach to learning and assessment for this program will include both supervised and non-supervised forms of training delivery. 

Supervised training describes structured learning and assessment activities that are directed by teachers/trainers. These can include: 

Work Integrated Learning activities, which are mandatory requirements of learning and assessment and can occur at RMIT or away from RMIT.
Structured online learning activities where there is real-time access to your teachers/trainers e.g. online lectures, teacher-led discussions and online activities which are assessed or monitored by teachers.

  • Face-to-face learning e.g. tutorials, workshops, practical classes.
  • Assessments are ongoing throughout the program 

Non-supervised training describes learner-directed/self-paced learning activities and/or work placements. These can include:

Learner directed study activities such as reading, investigation, practical and/or theoretical tests or assessments. 

The number of non-supervised hours in a program will vary, depending on the learner abilibities. 

Student directed learning involving skills practice, private study and research, either at RMIT or away from RMIT. 

The learning tools used in our program are designed to offer the most effective and relevant environments possible, ensuring that you have the skills required throughout your career.The assessment tasks and the form of assessment will be identified in your course guides part Bs. To access these, please go to the Program Structure section of this Program Guide, select which course you would like to look at and then select which term you would like to view. You will receive further, more detailed information about your assessments from the assessment briefs, which are published on Canvas.

Learning and teaching is conducted in the following types of environments:

CLASS

Onsite and online (via Collaborate Ultra) classroom delivery, often augmented by audio/visual presentations. These classes will concentrate on arming you with essential core theory and information before embarking on practical projects.

COMPUTER LAB     

Practical classes in computer labs in RMIT building 94 containing workstations, each consisting of an industry-standard computer and current software and hardware relevant to the subject matter and industry. Can be accessed onsite or online via RMIT Desktop and the Learning Management System Canvas.

STUDIO

Practical sessions are conducted in the RMIT building 9 Radio Theatre, RMIT The Capitol and the RMIT Media Precinct's Television Studios, Black Box and Kaleide Theatre.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

If you have already developed competency through prior experience, (for example, through prior studies or work experience), you can apply for credit once you have enrolled in this program. Work integrated learning
