Course Description

Real Estate Law is a mix of contract law, consumer and real property law. The course explores key concepts from these areas of law, and how they work together to make up Real Estate Law in the state of Victoria.

Classes comprise of three hours of real estate law theory and then practice legal problem-solving exercises.

Via these approaches, you will develop and apply your knowledge of real estate law by applying the legal theory to complete legal problem-solving exercises.

Program Learning Outcomes

In this course you will develop the following program capabilities:

1. Apply knowledge of real estate theory and concepts to inform decision making in the local and global professional arena, demonstrating evidenced based judgement and ethical decision making

2. Critically engage with economic, legal and environmental policy frameworks to inform developed solutions, decision making and problem solving



Course Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

  1. Analyse and apply Victorian legislation and judicial precedent to property practice including transactions.
  2. Apply legislative frameworks to interpret property case studies.
  3. Discuss how the principles of property law impact on the rights of parties in the context of real property.

Assessment Tasks

Assessment Task 3: Final Exam, 50%, Individual (CLOs: CLO1, CLO2, CLO3)
