Course Description
The purpose of this course is to give you a framework for professional practice in the screen and media industry. You will explore the skills and knowledge required to succeed in screen industries. You will also look at ways in which you can build an industry profile through marketing and networking to enable you to prepare for screen and media roles, including freelance roles.

Program Learning Outcomes
This course contributes to the following Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) of the AD017 Associate Degree in Screen and Media:
1. produce screen and media content with high production values for a range of platforms and environments 2. apply industry relevant knowledge and skills to devise, develop and build contemporary screen and media content for diverse audiences and contexts 3. apply and creatively adapt theoretical and technical knowledge and skills in screen and media production to your practice or future study 4. identify, analyse and reflect on relevant trends in screen and media production in both local and international contexts. 5. demonstrate critical thinking and innovation when identifying and responding to problems in diverse contexts within screen and media production 6. communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders about your discipline 7. work with others in a range of roles and contexts, demonstrating cultural, environmental and social awareness. 8. apply initiative and judgement in planning, problem solving and decision making as a writer, editor or future student.Upon successful completion of this course you will be able to:
1. examine the role of key professional associations, organizations and networks
2. discuss operational and marketing requirements and issues relating to intellectual property, copyright and ownership
3. examine industry employment trends in the screen industries and discuss the implications for future work
4. analyse diverse funding opportunities and business practices relating to screen production

You will be actively engaged in learning that involves a range of activities such as studios, project work, lectures, tutorials, class discussion, individual and group activities.
