Course Description
This course is designed to help students develop a strong foundation of knowledge and a global outlook essential for working in businesses operating in and/or engaging with countries in the Asian region. You will acquire a deeper understanding of the economic, sociopolitical, cultural and technological factors that influence firms' strategies, operations, and performance in the global business environment, with a particular emphasis on Asia. Throughout the course, you will apply key concepts and theories to business scenarios in the Asian context. The key themes covered in this course include exploring the economic and sociopolitical landscape of some key Asian economies influencing investment in Asia, and examining Asian cultures and business practices. The course will equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary for professional success in business, particularly in the Asian market.

On successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
CLO1: Discuss the economic, sociopolitical and cultural factors influencing business practices in key Asian economies. CLO2: Analyse the key differences between Asian and Western business practices. CLO3: Analyse emerging trends in key Asian economies, including digital transformation and leadership practices. CLO4: Collaborate effectively in teams, integrating key skills including cross-cultural communication, decision-making, and negotiation skills. CLO5: Assess business challenges and develop recommendations that incorporate Asian business practices and cultural understanding.Overview of Learning Activities
A range of individual and group activities are designed to help you achieve your learning outcomes. These may include lectures and tutorials, group discussions, practical case analysis, individual study and research. While there will be some lectures by the course lecturers and guest lecturers, much of the class time will be devoted to discussing specific topics in small groups and among the class as a whole. Presentation and case project by students may be required as part of the learning process.
