Course Description

In this interdisciplinary course, students actively engage in national and international creative student competitions, selecting briefs that align with their interests and working individually or in teams. This hands-on approach not only enhances practical skills but also enriches students' portfolios. Encouraging exploration beyond conventional boundaries, the course utilises a variety of media platforms to foster innovative and experimental ideas. Students are inspired to transcend traditional boundaries, nurturing groundbreaking ideas and applying them in real-world scenarios.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs):

1. Analyse Creative Processes: Analyse and apply strategic and creative processes relevant to your chosen field, identifying various stages of creativity and their practical implications in real-world contexts.

2. Generate Innovative Responses: Generate innovative responses to creative briefs by applying principles of creative thinking and critical interpretation, and formulating solutions that meet specified criteria.

3. Communicate Creative Concepts: Communicate creative concepts and solutions effectively in alignment with briefs, demonstrating proficiency in articulating ideas with clarity, coherence, and relevance to the given context


Overview of Learning Activities

The students will be engaged in a blend of in-class workshops, digital collaborative sessions, and practical projects, including seminars/webinars, tutorials, and peer and tutor feedback. This approach combines direct, hands-on experience with digital learning tools, allowing students to explore creative processes and competition briefs both independently and in teams.


Overview of Learning Resources

RMIT University will provide you with a range of resources and tools to engage in this course, including studio and workshop facilities, online systems and professional equipment. A selected range of supplies are available, as well as support from technical staff. You will also have access to a wide range of online resources through RMIT Vietnam University Library.


Overview of Assessment

Students will be assessed on how well they meet the course’s learning outcomes and on their development against the program learning outcomes. Assessment may include essays, reports, reflective papers, creative projects and presentations, individually and in groups. Assessment will cover both theoretical and practical aspects of your learning.

Assessment Tasks

Assessment Task 1: Creative Brief – Concept and Process Development (50%): CLO1 and CLO2.

Assessment Task 2: Creative Brief – Final Project Outcomes and Presentation (50%): CLO2 and CLO3.

Feedback will be given on all assessment tasks. If the student has a long-term medical condition and/or disability it may be possible to negotiate to vary aspects of the learning or assessment methods.
