Course Description

In this course you will learn the skills and knowledge required to identify Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultural safety issues in the workplace, model cultural safety in own work practice, and develop strategies to enhance cultural safety.

Your knowledge and understanding of course content is assessed through participation in class exercises, oral presentations, and through the application of learned skills and insights to your written tasks. Assessment Tasks

Students enrolled in Vocational Education and Training qualifications are assessed for Competency. To be assessed as Competent means you have consistently demonstrated the required knowledge and skills at a standard expected in the workplace.  

To be assessed as Competent in this course, you will need to complete each assessment task to a satisfactory standard. You will receive feedback from the teacher at the conclusion of each assessment task.

Assessment Task 1: Knowledge Assessment

  • This knowledge assessment requires you to identify Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultural safety issues in the workplace and model good cultural safety practices in your own work practices.
  • Feedback provided on Canvas via Grade Centre and discussed verbally if required.  

Assessment Task 2: Refelctive Portfolio: Students must attend 

  • This reflective portfolio will demonstrate your knowledge of how to identify, evaluate, model and develop cultural safety issues in the workplace.
