You should have satisfactorily completed the following core you commence this course:
- Year One core courses
- Year Two core courses
- Seven (7) courses from your chosen Major
- Four (4) courses from your chosen Minor, or four (4) General Elective courses
Alternatively, you may be able to demonstrate the required skills and knowledge before you start this course.

The Language and Culture Internship helps you to develop skills to identify and negotiate your own internship opportunity with mentoring, support and advice from RMIT staff then gain valuable work experience in your specific field. You will be able to apply and further develop your learning of globalization, language and cultural diversity. You will be required to secure and complete a work based internship in a professional situation in an international or cross-cultural context either in Vietnam or another country. Your internship will be of 80 work hours and you will have a chance to debrief and reflect with your peers and an expert panel after your internship.

Program Learning Outcomes
In this course you will develop the following program learning outcomes:

PLO1: Communicate effectively in a range of forms and in different international and cross-cultural contexts, using appropriate modes of communication including electronic, written, graphic, oral and aural forms with audiences within and external to the discipline.
PLO2: Critically reflect on the role of culture in communication and society and apply this knowledge in a range of cross-cultural interactions locally and globally.
PLO3: Work independently and in diverse teams to solve problems, using effective communication strategies demonstrating ethical and reflective practice.
PLO4: Adapt and develop effective communication strategies to address linguistic diversity in the workplace.

Overview of Learning Activities
Learning activities will take the form of:
- Full time work in a professional context.
- Participation in an online community for RMIT’s internship students.
- Two multidisciplinary workshops pathway through the internship.
- Debrief interview and reflection.
Overview of Learning Resources
Learning resources will consist of recommended references and class notes which may be accessed through "myRMIT" if you are in Melbourne and via "RMIT online" if you are based in Vietnam.
The set of references is deliberately broad, including books, journal publications, government reports, industry standards and handbooks, and web-based resources.
Overview of Assessment
You will be assessed on how well you meet the course's learning outcomes and on your development against the program learning outcomes.
Assessment Task 1: Reflective journal of critical incidents, 30% (CLO1, CLO 2, and CLO5)
Assessment Task 2: Debrief interview, 30% (CLO1, CLO2, CLO3, CLO4, and CLO5)
Assessment Task 3: Reflective essay, 40% (CLO1, CLO2, CLO4, and CLO5)
