Course Description


This course is a major component of the Graduate Diploma (Geospatial Information) and provides students with the opportunity to develop their practical expertise and knowledge in an area of geospatial science, that is of particular interest to them. The project will be developed by the students in conjunction with an assigned internal academic supervisor. It may be possible to have input or assistance from external people depending on the nature of the project. The nature of the project can either be research or vocationally oriented or maybe a combination of both.

This course contributes to the development of the following capabilities within your designated program:

• Intermediate levels of verbal and written communication.

At the conclusion of the course you will be able to:
1. Describe a suitable project relating to geospatial science.
2. Clearly list and describe the objectives, rationale and methods for conducting that project.
3. Be able to synthesize and critically analyse existing literature on your particular project.
4. Be able to conduct a major piece of work that addresses the set project objectives.
5. explain your major project to a peer audience (including staff, industry representatives and other students).
