This is a component of the Graduate Diploma in Disability Studies. Students need to be enrolled in this program in order to undertake the course.
Course Description
This is an Honours and Postgraduate level course.
This subject will begin with an examination of evaluation as a quality control mechanism in the delivery of services to people with disabilities. Students will then be introduced to the many approaches to evaluation, ranging from case study approaches with individuals through to large scale experimental, quasi-experimental, and descriptive studies. Finally, a close look will be taken at examples of service evaluation, particularly those undertaken in Victoria. The broad focus of the subject is to prepare prospective service providers to be knowledgeable participants in the evaluation process

- Demonstrate a knowledge of various approaches to service evaluation
- Demonstrate a knowledge of the range of possible variables which can be used in service evaluation
- Demonstrate familiarity with the instruments for assessing those variables
- Demonstrate an understanding of some of service evaluations currently being conducted in Victoria.

Overview of Learning Activities
Students will acquire a framework for relevant knowledge and underlying theoretical and conceptual bases of the course through completing set readings and study exercises, undertaking further research, and completing assigned tasks.

The students will be able to access course information and learning materials through MyRMIT Studies and will be provided with a comprehensive reading package. Students will also use the library resources and University computer facilities.
