AERO2377 Introduction to Aviation or equivalent.


Course Description

This course introduces you to the four distinct broad environments which include regulation, operational, economic and international issues. It is primarily focussed on the common carrier system of air transportation, that is, commercial air services offered to the public. The knowledge and skills developed through this course will support courses later in this program in relation to airline operations and airport operations, aircraft maintenance and other courses.

Upon successful completion of the course, you should be able to:

  1. Relate regulatory, operational, economic and international factors to the international airline industry environment, identifying factors of key importance to typical stakeholders
  2. Demonstrate an understanding of domestic aviation industry environment
  3. Analyse the impact of regulatory frameworks, at different levels (internationally and domestically) on various facets of the aviation industry
  4. Communicate at a professional level with all facets of the aviation industry in the context of regulatory and legal frameworks

You will learn this course pre-recorded through lectures, directed reading, class room discussion, and investigative research. The learning process is reinforced through problem-based learning using case studies.
