Pre-requisite Courses and Assumed Knowledge and Capabilities
Students will need to have completed a course in research methods (PHIL1000 or equivalent) prior to commencing this course.
Course Description
This course is designed to assist students to develop their research skills through a major research project. Students will prepare a paper on this research that is of a standard acceptable to the academic journals that serve the property and valuation professions.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development
Students will further develop their research skills in an area of interest. They will be required to prepare a research plan and then carry out that plan and prepare an appropriate research report.
Overview of Learning Activities
To produce a report that is suitable for publication as a refereed article in an appropriate academic or professional journal.
Overview of Learning Resources
Text and reference material from research methods and other material specific to the topic/problem being researched. This will include library access, on line journals and data bases, document delivery services etc.
Overview of Assessment
Research plan 20% due end of week 4
Journal article 80% (8,000 -12,000 words)
