None. However the coursework assumes a skill and knowledge base equivalent to the successful completion of Communications 1 and 2.


Course Description

This course, undertaken in your final year of the undergraduate program, examines the agency of communications through positioning the act of drawing/making as a practice that investigates and constructs landscape. In this course you will challenge and manipulate conventions of representation through individual research and contribute to Landscape Architectural discourse by exploring the relationship between method and outcome.


Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development

In this course you will develop the following program learning outcomes:
• Critically apply a broad and coherent body of knowledge incorporating ecological, cultural, economic and ethical issues of landscape architecture in the medium of design using a range of design methods and practices.
• Engage in design practice that is characterised by creative and critical thinking skills, analysis, and synthesis.
• Communicate using a range of forms and media to clearly and coherently present ideas that are informed by the underlying principles and concepts of the technical and theoretical frameworks of landscape architecture.
• Assume responsibility for own ongoing learning and use initiative and informed judgment to position ideas of practice in landscape architecture and across disciplines.
• Reference technical and theoretical frameworks of landscape architecture to describe, critique, modify and adapt relevant and innovative forms of design for professional work in the discipline.


Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
• Integrate representational conventions in order to construct/articulate a compelling agenda for your project
• Associate, curate and produce refined material that demonstrates your design practice and articulates a lineage of your research interest/s
• Modify methods of representation in relation to your representational intent
• Select, critically analyse and evaluate appropriate drawing practices/precedents in relation to your project

You will be assessed on how well you meet the course’s learning outcomes and on your development against the program capabilities.

The assessment for this course will be project-based and comprise a set of incremental, cumulative tasks structured to enable students to demonstrate their competency in Landscape Architectural representation.
