Course Description

The course covers effective methodologies to devise real solutions for challenges faced by today’s technology consultants. The course will involve engaging in a real technology environment and acquiring the skills and knowledge for a successful technical consultants.


Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development

This course contributes to the following program learning outcomes:

1.5 Knowledge of contextual factors impacting the engineering discipline
3.2 Effective oral and written communication in professional and lay domains
3.5 Orderly management of self, and professional conduct.
3.6 Effective team membership and team leadership.


On completion of this course you should be able to:

1. Communicate with teams and the community at large to investigate and present different technology consultancy techniques.
2. Deliver business value to clients via technology consultancy.
3. Develop a business benefits realisation plan to ensure value creation. 
4. Manage complexity and uncertainty in technology consultancy.
5. Support and improve technology consultancy practice through the application of key methodologies and frameworks.

Overview of Learning Resources

Learning resources will consist of recommended references and class notes which may be accessed through "myRMIT" if you are in Melbourne and via "RMIT online" if you are based in Vietnam.
The set of references is deliberately broad, including books, journal publications, government reports, industry standards and handbooks, and web-based resources.
