Course Description

This course gives you the opportunity to enhance and extend your knowledge and skills in your specialist area of Digital Media such as interactive media, digital video, digital sound, digital environments, or another related area of interest in this rapidly developing field.

In studios you will explore the design and application of your chosen specialist area of interest to solve complex digital production problems in various situations.

There is a balloting process, where you nominate preferences from the range of offerings.

Upon the successful completion of this course you will be able to:

  • Identify and discuss complex concepts and principles of your chosen specialist area.
  • Apply advanced specialist conceptual, technical and design knowledge and skills to Digital Media outcomes.
  • Critically analyse, evaluate and make informed judgement on an area of Digital Media problems and situations.
  • Communicate complex specialist design ideas to both digital media practitioners and external stakeholders.

You will be actively engaged in learning that involves a range of activities such as studios, project work, lectures, tutorials, class discussion, individual and group activities.

Overview of Assessment

You will be assessed on how well you meet the course’s learning outcomes and on your development against the program learning outcomes. Assessment may include projects, assignments, critiques, reports and presentations, individually and/or in groups.

Assessment will cover both practical and theoretical aspects of your learning. You will be able to develop your work in relation to your own specific areas of interest in your professional practice.

Feedback will be given on all assessment tasks.

 

Assessment Tasks

Assessment Task 1

“Digital Media Design Problem Response” (30%).

In this assessment task, you will present your initial findings on a design problem.


This assessment will cover the following course learning outcomes:

  • Identify and discuss complex concepts and principles of your chosen specialist area.
  • Critically analyse, evaluate and make informed judgement on an area of Digital Media problems and situations.
  • Communicate complex specialist design ideas to both digital media practitioners and external stakeholders.

 

Assessment Task 2

“Milestone Presentation” (40%).

In this assessment task, you will present your progressions and designs representing a halfway milestone in the delivery of a project.


This assessment will cover the following course learning outcomes:

  • Apply advanced specialist conceptual, technical and design knowledge and skills to Digital Media outcomes.
  • Communicate complex specialist design ideas to both digital media practitioners and external stakeholders.

 

Assessment Task 3

“Final Project Presentation” (30%).

In this assessment task, you will present your final, resolved design in response to the brief.

 


This assessment will cover the following course learning outcomes:

  • Identify and discuss complex concepts and principles of your chosen specialist area.
  • Apply advanced specialist conceptual, technical and design knowledge and skills to Digital Media outcomes.
  • Critically analyse, evaluate and make informed judgement on an area of Digital Media problems and situations.
