Course Description

This is a designated WIL course. This course integrates your academic studies with work-based learning. In this course, you will apply design thinking principles to develop and pitch a project proposal that addresses a contemporary business challenge or opportunity or addresses a complex problem in the field of blockchain and distributed ledger technologies (or other related technologies). This course is a capstone course that offers you opportunities to examine broader business issues from multiple perspectives and develop innovative responses to complex problems.

On successful completion of this course you will be able to:

 

CLO 1. Integrate design thinking principles and techniques to explore and critically review a contemporary business issue or opportunity in the context of blockchain and related technologies.

CLO 2. Formulate a project to address a business issue or opportunity.

CLO 3. Collaboratively develop a project proposal based on creative and credible solutions to challenging problems. 

CLO 4. Pitch a project proposal to key stakeholders to gain support for adoption and implementation.


Overview of Learning Activities

Learning activities in this course are focused on the preparation of a project brief and may include the following:

  • Reading and reflecting on project planning and design
  • Negotiating a commercial or social enterprise issue with your course coordinator/academic
  • Participating in discussions and workshops
  • Using online and other sources to obtain information about the issue and to explore different perspectives
  • Presenting and pitching to the group
  • Preparing a written draft and a final version of a project brief
  • Engaging with industry representatives and/or mentors during the project scope and solution design process.
