1. Monitor assessment practice
1.1 Work with colleagues to systematically monitor assessment practice
1.2 Actively engage with and support other assessors as they work to improve assessment practice
1.3 Analyse assessment records ensuring legal, organisational and ethical requirements are being met and appropriate advice is provided to improve record keeping
2. Coordinate assessment validation activities
2.2 Undertake risk assessment and analysis to determine the purpose, focus and context of validation activities
2.3 Consider and determine approaches to validation
2.4 Determine and confirm participants in validation and organise any materials and resources needed for validation
2.5 Provide guidance to support participants throughout the validation process
2.6 Finalise and process validation documentation in accordance with assessment system, legal and organisational procedures and present to relevant people, within an agreed timeframe
2.7 Identify recommendations from validation processes and forward to the appropriate authority

This course is online. Activities include:
• blog/wiki discussion and participation
• participation in online discussion boards/threads and Collaborate sessions or other webinar-type activities
• keeping an online reflective journal
• analysis/critique of relevant reading material
• individual or group projects conducted through electronic media
• peer teaching and workshop presentations
• online research

This course is taught over 7 sessions in semester 2. The course forms part of a cluster of 2 courses which together are referred to as the "Assessment" cluster; the other unit of the Assessment cluster is
TAEASS502B Design and develop assessment tools.
In every session various elements will be covered from each unit in the cluster.

Monitoring assessment practice with colleagues

This unit of competency is taught as a standalone unit over 6 sessions in semester 1.

Session 4: Review and trial assessment tool.
"Professional Training and Assessment" by Dan Hill, Terry Hill and Lee Perlitz, McGraw-Hill, 2013 will be the prescribed text for this course.
At the beginning of the course students will be directed to various web-based material and/or
electronic copies of learning resources.

During the program you will complete assessment tasks which are listed, in detail, at the beginning of the course. These tasks may include:
- Workplace based projects
- Contributions to online discussion forums
- A professional conversation

To demonstrate competency in this course you will need to complete all of the following tasks to a satisfactory standard.
You will receive written feedback on all assessment tasks.
Task 1: Support for other assessors
Provide evidence of how you provide support to other assessors, including modelling good assessment and validation practice, and how you contribute positively to the work of assessors and others involved in carrying out assessments and validation
Task 2: Organise validation on 3 occasions
Provide evidence of how you have taken responsibility for initiating, organising and facilitating assessment validation on at least three occasions and used the outcomes of validation and appeals to improve assessment practice.
Task 3: Online discussion boards
Contribute to online discussion boards. You will be evaluated using the following criteria:
- frequency of reading messages and posting responses;
- keeping to the topic with pertinent quality posts;
- engaging in critical dialogue through responding to other student’s posts and comments
Task 4: Professional conversation
Engage in a professional conversation with your facilitator. This conversation will address the varied knowledge and skills required of you as someone who leads assessment validation processes.
Further details of the above assessment tasks will be provided in session 1 of semester 1 via myRMIT>myStudies.
It is a requirement of the Dip TD&D (TAE50211) program that all assessment work be submitted electronically through the program shell in myRMIT>myStudies. You are asked to submit any workplace projects as a single Word or PDF file which must include a signed RMIT Cover Sheet; multiple project files will not be accepted.
For students who commenced February 2015: Tasks 1-4 need to be submitted/completed by midnight Sunday November 8, 2015
For students who commenced July 2015: Tasks 1-4 need to be submitted/completed by midnight Sunday June 20, 2015
