Course Description

In this course you will explore and establish a professional social networking presence relevant to the fashion styling industry, developing skills around choosing appropriate images and writing copy for different target audiences and social media platforms.

Details of Learning Activities

Learning activities may include tutorials, practical workshops and off campus research where you will be challenged to reflect and debate on different concepts and issues surrounding social media and appropriate language when posting on different platforms .
You will be required to participate in case study learning, problem solving activities, self-reflection and discussion.  Activities will encourage both individual and group based learning responsibilities and outcomes.

Overview of Assessment

Assessment is ongoing throughout the course and has been designed to measure achievement of each element in a flexible manner. Assessment will incorporate a variety of methods including projects and assignments designed for students to demonstrate their ability to profile and tailor marketing to different segments. To successfully complete these course students must demonstrate competency in all elements as listed. 
This course is assessed in accordance with competency-based assessment. All assessment tasks must be completed before competency can be achieved. Feedback will be provided throughout the semester on all assessment tasks. 

Results for this course are delivered and assessed in accordance with Graded competency-based assessment are:
CHD Competent with High Distinction
CDI Competent with Distinction
CC  Competent with Credit
CAG Competency Achieved - Graded
NYC Not Yet Competent
DNS Did Not Submit for Assessment

Students will be eligible for a graded result higher than Competency achieved only if work is submitted on time and competency has been demonstrated within the standard enrolment period and on the first assessment attempt. Units assessed as ‘not yet competent’ on a first assessment attempt and ‘competent’ on a second or subsequent attempt are to have results amended to competent but will not be eligible for grading. Students are advised that they may be asked to personally demonstrate their assessment work to confirm aspects of competency not evidenced in class or through assessments.

Assessment Tasks

Assessment Task 1 -Styling for Social MediaDue - Weekly submission with final submission due Week 8 You will establish an Instagram account to post and caption original imagery that reflects your aesthetic as a stylist. You will be showcasing work/imagery and engaging from a stylists point of view.All imagery and captions must be uploaded with captions to Google drive on a weekly basis.   Assessment Task 2 -Research a range of Social Media toolsDue - Week 11 You are to research the different tools associated with the social media Instagram platform. You will create a moving image and captions to post to Instagram utilising the tools you have researched to enhance your post and caption.   Assessment Task 3 - Write copy for blog posts and media assets Due Week 15 You are to write 3 blogs including visual media assets to post to your blog site which is linked to your Instagram page. Your blog posts will describe interesting events you have participated in or relate to you as a stylist. One of these blog posts must be about a day in the life of a stylist.
