Course Description

This course covers the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to manage personal professional performance and to take responsibility for professional development in relation to the provision of training and/or assessment services.

This course includes a work integrated learning experience in which your knowledge and skills will be applied and assessed in a real or simulated workplace context and where feedback from industry and /or community is integral to your experience.

Overview of Assessment

During the program you will complete assessment tasks which are listed, in detail, at the beginning of the course. These tasks may include:

  • Workplace based projects
  • Online assessment (eg discussion forum, blog, wiki, quiz)
  • Professional conversation
  • Third-party reports

Assessment Tasks

To demonstrate competency in this course you will need to complete all of the following tasks to a satisfactory standard.
You will receive written feedback on all assessment tasks.

Task 1: Document, reflect and discuss facilitation and assessment practice.

Document, reflect and discuss with peers evidence of feedback from at least 10 hours of facilitation practice and interviews with assessors covering at least the assessment of 10 candidates.  Identify three critical incidents related to the role as teacher/trainer, and document actions, and reflections on these incidents by making links to relevant theories.

Task 2: Contribute to and participate in your professional development plan

Contribute to own professional development plan, participate in professional development activities and maintain currency of skills and knowledge in VET sector as well as vocational area. Identify, locate and use, current and credible references to inform professional practice.

Task 3: Model techniques and strategies

Model appropriate professional techniques and strategies, including networking and using technology to gain information and other support.

Task 4: Online discussion forum (see assessment task instructions in Blackboard)

Contribute to online discussion forum. You will be evaluated using the following criteria:

  • frequency and timeliness of reading messages and posting responses;
  • keeping to the topic with pertinent quality posts;
  • engaging in critical dialogue through responding to other students' posts and comments

Submission deadlines

2017 February intake

  • Tasks 1-3 need to be submitted by midnight Sunday June 11
  • Task 4 needs to be submitted by Friday May 19

It is a requirement of the Dip Training Design and Development (TAE50211) program that all assessment work be submitted electronically through the "2017FEBTDDVET" Blackboard program shell in myRMIT>myStudies. You are asked to submit any workplace projects as a single Word or PDF file which must include a signed RMIT Cover Sheet; multiple project files will not be accepted.
