In this course you will develop the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to evaluate a training program in order to measure the effectiveness of training in meeting workforce performance needs and capability requirements.

1. Plan and prepare evaluation

Details of Learning Activities
This course is online. Activities may include:
• blog/wiki discussion and participation
• participation in online discussion boards/threads and Collaborate sessions or other webinar-type activities
• keeping an online reflective journal
• analysis/critique of relevant reading material
• individual or group projects conducted through electronic media
• peer teaching and workshop presentations
• online research

This course is taught over 3 sessions in semester 1 2018.
Note: While your teacher will cover all the material in this schedule, the order is subject to change depending on class needs.
Introduction to the unit including how to plan and prepare for an evaluation by defining its aim and scope, identifying the data required and establishing a project plan including what personnel to involve.
Collect and collate data and information on which the evaluation will be based after considering and then deciding on ways to gather both quantitative and qualitative data
Analyse the data gathered, draw conclusions about how effective the training program is and then identify areas for improvement. Report on the findings and make recommendations to stakeholders

Overview of Assessment
During the program you will complete assessment tasks which are listed, in detail, at the beginning of the course. These tasks may include:
- Workplace based projects
- Online assessment (eg discussion forum, blog, wiki, quiz)
- Professional conversation
- Third-party reports

To demonstrate competency in this course you will need to complete all of the following tasks to a satisfactory standard.
You will receive written feedback on all assessment tasks.
Task 1: Evaluate a training program
Produce an evaluation report that covers all stages of the evaluation process including recommendations on areas for improvement. In addition you will be asked to critically review the evaluation process and approaches taken and propose changes to improve the process.
Further details of the above assessment tasks will be provided in session 1 of semester 1 via myRMIT>myStudies.
It is a requirement of the Dip Training Design and Development (TAE50216) program that all assessment work be submitted electronically through Canvas. You are asked to submit any workplace projects as a single Word or PDF file which must include a signed RMIT Cover Sheet; multiple project files will not be accepted.
