Course Description
This unit specifies the mandatory requirements of occupational health and safety and how they apply to the various electrotechnology work functions. It encompasses responsibilities for health and safety, risk management processes at all operative levels and adherence to safety practices as part of the normal way of doing work.

Overview of Assessment
This is a progressive assessment, the students are required to undertake summative assessments as follows:
• Written assignment related to Occupational Health and Safety
• Practical demonstration in simulated workplace
Assessment Tasks
Assessment task 1 (assignment 1): 20%
Written assignment to demonstrate an understanding of basic legal requirements covering occupational health and safety in the workplace and requirements for personal safety in the workplace working safely with electrical tools or equipment
Assessment task 2 (assignment 2): 20%
Written assignment to demonstrate an understanding of identifying potential workplace hazards and suggested measures for accident prevention
Assessment task 3 (Practical demonstration in simulated workplace): 60%
