Learning Outcomes
On completion of this unit you will possess the skills and knowledge for workers in the health care setting to clean and sterilise reusable instruments and equipment and to maintain associated environments. All procedures must be carried out in accordance with current infection control guidelines, Australia and New Zealand Standards for maintaining infection control and the policies and procedures of the health care establishment.
Details of Learning Activities
Your learning activities in this course is contextualised to reflect workplace infection risks, hazards and associated infection control practices relating to the dental prosthetist practice instruments and equipment; in line with current Australian/New Zealand Standards and workplace protocols.
You must be able to demonstrate essential knowledge required to effectively do the task outlined in elements and performance criteria of this course, manage the task and manage contingencies in the context of the identified work role
You will learn how to consistently use different types of standard sterilizing equipment and perform safe working practices at all times in the laboratory and clinical setting.

Overview of Assessment
Clinical observation. Assignment. Production of practise manual including instrument re-processing procedures.
Assessment Tasks
You will be required to submit a Reprocessing Project ; and undertake a Simulated assessment based on a workplace scenario; that must ensure WHS practices are followed and relevant infection control standards and regulations are met.
You will also be required to undertake a written assessment that will be conducted in class time, which will comprise of multiple choice questions, true and false questions and some short answer questions.
