Year One of Program

Academic integrity

"Academic integrity means acting with the values of honesty, trust, fairness, respect and responsibility in learning, teaching and research." In practical terms, it means developing, and submitting for assessment, your own academic work.

The repercussions for breaking the rules – even accidentally – are serious, from failing an assessment to charges of academic misconduct and exclusion from a program.

Please read the Introduction to Academic Integrity Tutorial and complete the Academic Integrity Awareness Digital Credential before you begin your program.

Research Methods

  • We advise students to defer completing Research Methods until they have identified a project topic for the dissertation. Research Methods can be taken in the second year of the program concurrently with Dissertation Part A (GEOM2073), or in the semester prior to enrolling into Dissertation (GEOM2072).
  • If you are searching for a project topic, please contact STEM Student Lifecycle, and ask that they contact your program manager and make an appointment to discuss some options.
  • If you defer enrolling in the Research Methods course until year 2 of the program, replace it with a course that contributes to meeting your Geospatial Science Options course requirements or your Options Course requirements, and which you would normally complete in year 2 of the program.
