Learning experiences provide opportunities for you to develop transferable skills and enable professional and personal development via reflective practice and ‘real’ experiences. A breadth and depth in business and IT/IS knowledge is required to enable you to adapt technologies to business requirements. The program promotes internationalised curriculum and delivery models in order to support your development as a “global citizen”.
Work Integrated Learning (WIL): The application of theoretical learning to a discipline-related work situation is an essential part of the course. Your WIL practicum will take place in the third year of your course and will comprise of assessed professional or vocational work in a work context in which feedback from clients and others from industry and community is integral to the experience. Your WIL experience will be integrated with academic learning prior to the practicum as well as upon return.
It will be necessary for all students undertaking co-op year to enrol and complete the co-op preparation course. This is a zero point course but is compulsory to ensure that students are successful in applying for and executing their co-op experience.
During the program you will experience a variety of teaching and learning approaches in the courses undertaken. In many cases, the approach reflects the unique aims of each course; specifically the knowledge capabilities and generic capabilities. You will be treated as an ‘adult learner’, meaning you will be expected to take responsibility for your own learning in a mature and independent way. The curriculum material will be contextualised for the Vietnam situation by the RMIT Vietnam staff, in consultation with the relevant staff from the School of Business Information Technology.
Assessment in the BBus (BusInfoSys) is designed to give you the opportunity to demonstrate your capabilities. Various forms of assessment will be used throughout the program since the assessment students receive will be appropriate to the objectives and student learning outcomes for each course. Successfully completing the assessment tasks ensures the professional accounting bodies and prospective employers of a level of achievement in the capabilities outlined in the program.
Assessment may include:
- Formal examinations: which provide the opportunity to demonstrate student understanding and application of fundamental principles to either practical or theoretical issues;
- Research projects: which assess student ability to assimilate, analyse, critically reflect on information
- In-class tests: provide students with timely feedback on understanding within a course and allows feedback for further development of skills and capabilities during the semester;
- Formal presentations: enable the development of verbal communication skills and organisational abilities;
- Reflective papers: where students reflect on what has been learnt and the methods utilised to enhance learning.
Your primary mode of teaching will be face-to face, involving three hour seminars comprised of lectures and tutorials, supported by online materials. Normal maximum class sizes are consistent with similar undergraduate courses.

You will undertake 40 weeks of work-integrated learning in the B Bus (BusInfoSys) Vietnam. During this year you will work for an organisation in an information systems related role for 40 weeks. You will also perform related academic activities while working for the organisation. Prior to undertaking your work-integrated learning, you will participate in a number of activities and seminars to improve your ability to obtain a work-integrated learning position with an organisation.
