Statement of capabilities
The Professional Communication Program provides a combination of practical training in communication and media with in-depth study of a number of selected areas. You build on a general set of foundations skills in three professional disciplines with a post-foundation specialisation in one or two of:
- Broadcast, Print Journalism
- Public Relations
- Radio, Television or Integrated Media production
You also complete a sequence of courses within a secondary major, gaining a deeper understanding in one of the following areas of:
- Asian Media and Culture
- Cinema Studies
- Communication, Business and Politics
- Literature and Philosophy
This combination of general overview and in-depth engagement equips graduates with the following capabilities:
- To situate your communication practice in a global setting.
- To enact critical and creative approaches in analysing problems and in applying communications solutions.
- To apply communication practices within a social, political and economic context and which demonstrate knowledge of ethical implications.
- To implement the skills of research and analysis within a professional and academic framework.
- To demonstrate the practical skills required in one or more fields of professional practice within the communication industries.
- To demonstrate the analytical skills required of undergraduate study in the fields of communication and media.
