The Program develops the following Program Learning Outcomes for Bachelor of Science (Applied Chemistry):
PLO 1: Understanding the Culture of Chemistry:
- Understand the ways of scientific thinking by recoginising the creative endeavour involved in acquiring knowledge and the testable and contestable nature of the principles of chemistry
- Recognise that chemistry plays an essential role in society and underpins many industrial, technological and medical advances.
- Understand and be able to articulate aspects of the place and importance of chemistry in the local and global community.
PLO-2: Scientific knowledge
- Exhibit depth and breadth of chemistry knowledge by demonstrating a knowledge of, and applying the principles and concepts of chemistry.
- Demonstrate depth of chemistry knowledge by recognising chemistry is abroad discipline that impacts on, and is influenced by, other scientific fields.
PLO-3: Inquiry and Problem Solving
- Plan and carry out a research project under supervision, showing the development of some capacity for independent work.
- Gather, critically review and synthesise information relevant to a scientific inquiry or research project.
- Choose appropriate tools and methods to solve scientific problems within your area of specialization.
