Approach to learning and assessment

Classes are interactive and give you many opportunities to discuss the theory and practice new skills. You will participate in classes where the teacher will demonstrate the required skills and where you will have the opportunity to practice the assessment tasks in our simulated work environment under supervision.  Assessment methods include exams, assignments, projects and practical activities.

You will be required to complete some online learning activities for each course. Learner directed study activities include research, reading, and/or theoretical practice tests or assessments.

You will also participate in face-to-face learning e.g. tutorials, lectures, and practical classes.

Theory assessments are generally completed online in Canvas, the Learning Management System. Practical assessments are conducted in the simulated work environment under the supervision of the teacher. You will be required to perform a number of activities and assessed against a criterion that you will be provided.

You need to achieve a satisfactory result in the theory and practical assessment to pass each course

Work integrated learning

RMIT University is committed to providing you with an education that strongly links formal learning with professional or vocational practice.

As a student enrolled in this RMIT University program you will: undertake and be assessed on structured activities that allow you to learn, apply and demonstrate your professional or vocational practice; interact with industry and community when undertaking these activities; complete these activities in real work contexts or situations; and in addition: these interactions and the work contexts provide distinctive sources of feedback to you to assist your learning. Any or all of these aspects of a WIL experience may be simulated.
