The Certificate IV in School Based Education Support assists people wanting to work in a range of education settings, including public and independent schools and community education settings that provide assistance and support to teachers and learners under broad based supervision. Education Support workers work closely with teachers, collecting and/or developing teaching resources, setting up and operating equipment, undertaking administrative and student supervision duties and participating in teaching activities. Some job roles may require tasks to be performed with a moderate level of autonomy and/or the provision of supervision/leadership to other staff/volunteers.
Completion of the qualification will enable you to:
- provide teaching/learning/mentoring assistance within early childhood, primary and secondary colleges
- provide general teaching/learning/mentoring assistance within community recreation, early childhood, literacy, numeracy and special needs support
- work as a Home tutor
- work as an Education Support Worker, Teacher assistant (Special Needs) or Teacher aide

The qualification is nationally accredited and recognised in all states and territories through the Community Services Training Package. It covers workers in a range of education and school settings who provide assistance and support to teachers and community workers to facilitate students' learning under broader-based supervision.
Industry partners are active participants in the selection of electives, delivery and assessment tasks through membership of the Industry Advisory Committee.

Once you are enrolled as a student in this program you will need to allow for expenses other than university tuition fees. Additional expenses may relate to the purchase of lecture notes, textbooks, stationery, consumables such as printer paper, fees levied by commercial internet service providers for internet access outside of the university campus, and other relevant costs.
