Approach to learning and assessment
Successful completion of this program requires you to demonstrate that you are competent in 12 units of competency. For learning and assessment purposes these units of competency have been placed as individual units and span 2 semesters for full time study. Part time study is available.
The program involves a sequential development with an emphasis on the acquisition of skills towards the adaption of those skills into the production of work with a sound personal philosophical base. It encourages the further development of methods and materials and concentrates on the production of work that demonstrates sound conceptual ideas evolving from an understanding of contemporary art practices.
Theoretical courses further develop and reinforce the practical applications as well as provide an understanding of many career pathways within the arts industry.
The program will enable you to move directly into your own professional practice, pursue further study or undertake work in a multitude of arts related industries such gallery or museum work, community arts or as an art practitioner.
Assessment occurs throughout the year and includes:
Practical demonstrations of competency
Completion of a portfolio of artwork
Completion of written work such as reports and self reflections
Participation in workshops and classes
Completion of visual journals.
