Approach to learning and assessment

The learning experiences offered in this program are designed to foster your capability to think critically, to reflect on and continually improve your professional practice, to integrate your theoretical and conceptual knowledge and to develop the skills required to work effectively as a property professional.

Your learning experiences will contain a broad mix of study modes, including lectures, seminars, workshops and weekly classes, using face-to-face, on line and other flexible delivery mechanisms.

This program integrates face to face learning environments and on line delivery, enhanced by eresources. You will engage in a range of learning activities including individual and small group work, case study analyses, face to face and on line discussions, peer to peer presentations, and work simulated scenarios, including industry and research led projects.

Assessment is designed to provide you with opportunities to demonstrate your knowledge and skill development. You will find that the forms of assessment used may be different for each course, depending on the course objectives and learning outcomes.

Assessment involves ‘learning by doing’ and will include a range of activities such as report writing, written reflection, project based work, problem solving, presentations, peer or industry review.

On going feedback will be provided by your lecturers and your peers to enhance your learning as you continue to refine your capabilities for your future professional practice and learning after graduation.

Details of assessment for each course are provided in the course guide system.

Assessment varies for each course but may include:

  •     Case Studies
  •     Project reports
  •     Assignments
  •     Presentations
  •     Property Feasibility Projects

If you have a long term medical condition, disability or other form of disadvantage it may be possible to negotiate to vary aspects of the learning or assessment methods. You can contact the program coordinator or the Disability Liaison Unit if you would like to find out more.

If you have already developed areas of skill and knowledge included in this program (for example, through prior studies or work experience), you can apply for credit once you have enrolled in this program. There is information on the RMIT website about how to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
