Purpose of the Program

Cyber security forms a vital part of organisational responsibilities. In today's networked world it is more relevant than ever. From the latest internet worm, to identity theft, the danger is no more than a mouse click away. The graduate diploma is suited to those interested in the role of a systems administrator and/or a risk analysis consultant. You will learn about wireless LAN security, the Advanced Encryption Standard, RSA, elliptic curve cryptography, smartcards, biometrics and information systems risk management.

As a graduate of this program you will be able to apply a range of mathematical, analytical, algorithmic and computational techniques to model and critically evaluate a range of cyber security systems and processes (hardware or software based or hybrid) which operate on a diverse range of media (optical, wireless, wired), using a variety of protocols (EFTPOS, INTERNET, CCITT) in business or personal communications, keeping in mind the importance of ethical values in this service oriented field. You will be well placed to be able to perform these roles in either government or private organizations. Furthermore you will develop a capability to evolve with industry as existing information systems become more complex and more accessible to an increasing variety of users.

Please note that GD162VPA Graduate Diploma of Cyber Security is an EXIT ONLY award from the MC159VPA Master of Cyber Security.
