Course Description
In this course you will develop the skills and knowledge required to prepare effectively for employment. The course will focus on developing knowledge of Australian workplaces and their work practices and requirements. You will have an opportunity to develop your own goals in regards to future career paths and improve your employability and work readiness.

Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this course you will have developed the skills and knowledge necessary to prepare for employment. These skills include:

- language and literacy skills for accessing, evaluating and developing an employment portfolio

- problem solving and self-management skills to self-assess personal strengths and weaknesses and develop appropriate strategies
- technology skills to access and use the internet to research employment opportunities
Details of Learning Activities
This course describes the skills and knowledge required by learners to prepare for employment. It focuses on developing knowledge of Australian workplaces, their work practices and requirements and potential employment opportunities to assist participants in making decisions about possible career paths.
The purpose of this course is to provide opportunities to participants of diverse backgrounds to develop their understanding of workplace requirements and practices to gain and maintain employment or to access further vocational training opportunities. The following themes will be explored:
- Identifying workplace expectations
- Research an industry of interest
- Prepare a portfolio on skills
- Research employment opportunities
Teaching Schedule
You will be provided with a comprehensive workshop schedule at your first class in February that will highlight the different days of the week and the classes that are scheduled for this course.
