Course Description

This module/course covers the skills required to write workplace reports such as progress reports, simple problem/solution reports and descriptive reports.

Prepare to write a report

Performance Criteria:

1.1 Identify topic

1.2 Research topic and make notes

1.3 Write a rport plan organising content according to report structure, ie general statement, body, conclusion, optional recommendation


Write a report

Performance Criteria:

2.1 Write a coherent report of approximately 300 words or more

2.2 Stage text appropriately, eg introduction with general statement or aspects covered in report, body, conclusion, optional recommendation

2.3 Organise information in body  of report into categories with headings

2.4 Write coherent papragraphs containing clearly organised information

2.5 Use approprate layout, eg numbering and bulleted points

2.6 Link ideas using reference and conjunctions, eg although, while, if

2.7 Use grammar approprate to level of formality and techicality reports, eg some passive forms, noun groups, simple present tense, dependent clauses

2.8 Use appropriate vocabulary for context, eg workplace specific vocubulary

2.9 Use punctuation to support meaning

2.10 Spell most words accurately

Overview of Assessment

This course is part of a full-time integrated program. Learner performance is assessed against specific criteria that describe a standard of performance.
