Course Description

This competency covers the outcomes required to effectively measure current resource use and carry out improvements including those reducing negative environmental impacts of work practices.

Learning Outcomes

In this course you will be required to develop and demonstrat the skills and and knowledge required to to follow procedures so as to work in an environmentally sustainable manner to ensure regulatory compliance and also aims at minimising environmental risks and maximises the environmental performance of the process and of an organisation.

Details of Learning Activities

Integrated learning with LMTGN4002A Participate in product engineering, consisting of theory and practical components, including guest lecturers/industry experts, relating to product engineering for footwear; carried out in a simulated workplace environment, to enhance the development of the skills and knowledge required to develop footwear product.

Teaching Schedule

Week 1-14

Students to:

• obtain a basic understanding of sustainability

• Identify environmental hazards/risks, resource use and inefficiencies associated with own workplace (at an appropriate level)

• follow procedures related to environmental performance.

• the minimum of resources is used consistent with the job requirements, good practice and the procedures.

 Week 15

Students to give a 5min presentation of final assessment task

 Week 16

Feedback and review of final assessment

Overview of Assessment

Tasks that have not be authenticated in class as the student’s own work will not be considered for assessment. Regular attendance is necessary. Assessment will consist of both theory and practical based exercises, predominantly in class but some out of class research and information formatting may be required as well.

Assessment Tasks

Assessment Task One:
Identify one component  that is listed in the Production engineering specification sheet and Identify resources used in it’s manufacter and report on any Environmental and resource effiency issues. Findings are to be given in a 5min presentation.

Assessment Task Two:
Identify and record own work place sustainable practices. Documentation and recomendations are to be submitted.
