Students will study the skills and knowledge needed to meet individual responsibilities within a work group.

Learning Outcomes
Details of Learning Activities
You will attend an all-day workshop in which you will participate in activities including discussions and presentations related to engaging communities in the community development process as part of specific initiatives. You will be presented with information relating to the central themes of the unit including theories and skills relating to maintaining an effective work environment. This will include identifying the goals of your project or work team, supporting their team based practice and reviewing and developing your own practice.

In order to demonstrate competence in this course you will need to satisfactorily complete the following assessment tasks:
Evaluation report
You will complete a report evaluating the effectiveness of your ability to work within a team environment. You will be asked to demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills to ensure all workplace interactions contribute to positive processes and outcomes in both your organisation and the community services sector as a whole. In addition to this, your evaluation should include identifying the goals of your project or work team, supporting their team based practice and reviewing and developing your own practice.
Self and Supervisor Assessment
You and your supervisor will be asked to evaluate your ability to establish and maintain an effective work environment. This will include your ability to identify and manage potential areas of conflict, build and sustain valuable work relationships and consider the full range of individual and cultural differences in workplace relations. In addition to this, you and your supervisor will assess your ability to work in a team environment and your ability to bring your own skills and knowledge, as required, to enhance team performance. You will be asked to include a reflection and of your own performance against your work plan, organisation’s objectives and client needs in order to continually develop and improve your skills and knowledge.
