Course Description
The purpose of this course is to provide participants with the skills, knowledge and attitudes required to be aware of the uses and functions of electrical and mechanical devices in relation to product design.

Learning Outcomes
1. Incorporate basic mechanical and electrical technologies into their product design projects as relevant to a given brief.
2. Research and analyse information on mechanical and electrical technology as relevant to particular product design applications.
Overview of Assessment
Students will demonstrate competence by completing practical projects to be submitted by the prescribed deadlines and by an examination toward the end of the course. All project work is to be documented through notes and drawings which may consist of: notes from lectures and tutorials, models, mockups, visual presentations, and research conducted relevant to the project. Ongoing verbal feedback will be provided to students as the projects progress. Written assessment and feedback will be given to the student when work is returned. Late work will not be accepted.
