Course Description
This course covers the research and development of an integrated business plan for achieving business goals and objectives. It is suitable for setting up or existing a micro and small businesses or a department in a larger organisation.

Overview of Assessment
This course assessment is based on a business plan which provides for finance, marketing and provision of products/services to facilitate the business goals and objectives

There will be (4) four assessments in this course to be submitted on the following dates.
Week 5 - 11.03.09 Weighting = 10% Elements covered = 1, 2, 3 *
Presentation/Discussion
In class presentation (7 minutes) of your business idea. Explain your reason for choosing this business and justify its feasibility. Discuss which legal structure (e.g registered business, partnership or Pty Ltd Company) you have chosen and why. What are the disadvantages and advantages of your chosen business structure?

Short Answer Test
This test will include terms and definitions used in Business Planning and the topics covered in class so far.
Week 14- 13.05.09 Weighting = 15% Elements covered = 1, 2, 3 *
Present your business plan to the class. You should use PowerPoint to enhance your presentation. You will be assessed on your presentation 15% and 50% for your written business plan. You should present your business idea and plan as if your were presenting to an investor or bank manager.
Week 15 -20..05.09 Weighting = 50% Elements covered = 1, 2, 3 *
Written Assignment – Business Plan
You will prepare and submit a written Business Plan covering all aspects of the business plan we have covered in class, e.g. the executive summary, marketing plan and financial plan.
Elements:

3. Develop strategies for minimising risks
All assingment are to be submitted on the due date as outlined. If you have illness or extenuating circumstances an extension can be negotiated. If you have not negotiated an extension for the above work deductions will be made for each day work is not submitted. 10% per day will be deducted for non submission.
