This unit covers the knowedge and skills to follow defined OH&S policies and procedures relating to work being undertaken.

Learning Outcomes
Students will gain knowledge in applying OHS policies and procedures in the workplace through theory in class sessions tutorials and through prescribed exercises and assessment work. These concepts will also be explored through the investigation of appropriate real world and simulated environments.
Details of Learning Activities
1. Occupational Health and Safety Laws: the role of Work Cover and who to contact
2. Ways of contributing to workplace safety: methods of reporting hazards, the role of the Health and Safety Representative and Safety Committee.
3. Participation in O H and S in the workplace: the responsibilities of the employer and the employee.
4. Correct setup of workstation.
The course is integrated with LMTCL2001A Use a Sewing Machine & LMTCL2004A Sew Components to form a cluster called Production

Overview of Assessment
The student must demonstrate an understanding of all elements of the competencies in order to be deemed competent. Assessment methods have been designed to measure achievement of each competency in a flexible manner over a range of assessment tasks. Students will be assessed by written reports, observation and a classroom based practical activity. Students are advised that they are likely to be asked to personally demonstrate their assessment work to their teacher to ensure that the relevant competency standards are being met
