Course Description

This unit covers the knowledge and skills to follow defined OH&S policies and procedures relating to work being undertaken

1. Identify and follow workplace practices for hazard identification and risk control

Performance Criteria:

1.1 Initiative and enterprise is used to recognise hazards in work area and report to designated personnel .

1.2 Workplace practices and work instructions for controlling risks are identified and followed accurately.

1.3 OHS practices and workplace practices for dealing with hazards are identified and followed.

Learning Outcomes


In this unit you will required to develop the skills and knowledge relating to OH&S policies and procedures in order to ensure your own safety and that of others in the workplace.


Details of Learning Activities

The course is integrated with LMTCL2001A Use a Sewing Machine & LMTCL2004A Sew Components to form a cluster called Production
1. Occupational Health and Safety Laws: the role of Work Cover and who to contact
2. Ways of contributing to workplace safety: methods of reporting hazards, the role of the Health and Safety Representative and Safety Committee.
3. Participation in O H &S in the workplace: the responsibilities of the employer and the employee.
4. Correct setup of workstation.

Week 12:Revision Test On Rights and Responsibilities
Weeks 13 – 16:Continued in class activities using correct OH&S practice in production room.

Overview of Assessment

Detailed course and assessment requirements and information will be made available to you first week of class. Specific details will be explained to you during scheduled classes.

This course comprises both practical and theory components. You will be expected to attend and participate in class activities.


As well as class activities you will be required to undertake research and assessment practice outside of regular class times and participate in formal assessment tasks.
