Course Description

In this unit you will plan and implement a project, work effectively within an organisation and accept responsibility for and monitor own work. You will also develop your employability skills in the workplace and produce a reflective journal on the experience.This course includes a work integrated experience in which your knowledge and skills will be applied in a real or simulated workplace context and where feedback from industry and/or community is integral to your experience.

Performance Criteria:

1.1 Develop plans and strategies based on workplace or project needs to achieve identified operational outcomes in collaboration with relevant personnel
1.2 Develop scope and objectives based on:
- overall goals
- feedback from individuals
- monitoring of workplace operations
1.3 Identify and analyse internal and external factors which may impact on the plan to ensure the achievement of planned and agreed outcomes

Details of Learning Activities

This unit takes place in the workplace. The duration of work placement is approximately 10 - 15 days. The participant will work with the placement coordinator to locate suitable placements. They will prepare for and attend the workplace. Whilst in the workplace they will support the industry team in developing, implementing, and monitoring workplace projects. A work placement can also include freelance work with a client.

Overview of Assessment

Students will prepare for, attend and reflect on workplacement. Students will also finalise their portfolio for industry.

Assessment is on-going throughout the course. Assessment will incorporate a range of methods to assess performance and the application of knowledge and skills and will include:
 

Resume portfoilo

Reflective journal

Submission of WIL documentation and industry feedback

A final assessment of Competency Achieved or Not Yet Competent will be given at the end of the course, when students complete the work placement and related documentation.
To be deemed competent students must satisfactorily complete all Learning Elements and related Performance Criteria.
This unit is not graded.

Assessment Tasks

The application of this unit sees an individual artist or designer planning and implementing a project, working effectively within an organisation and accepting responsibility for and monitoring own work. This work would usually be carried out under limited supervision and competency will be demonstrated as a work placement.
The majority of this unit is delivered in the work place.

Task 1 - In preparation for placement participants must present a visual resume and introductory letter.


Task 2 - Participants must submit the following completed digital forms once each placement is arranged.

  • Form A - Workplace Agreement

  • Form B - Page 1 planning

Task 3 - On completion of each workplacement participants must submit

  • Form C -Timesheet
  • Form B - Page 2 reflection
  • Form D - Industry feedback

Task 4 - Participate in a folio advisement session.
