Course Description

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to design and construct 3-dimensional (3D) object(s) through the exploration and application of a range of advanced techniques and materials. It is a specialisation unit and refers to a specific art form.

Learning Outcomes

The application of this unit in the workplace sees an individual designer designing and constructing a 3-dimensional (3D)
object(s). The designer would use a wide range of tools, equipment and materials and the concepts developed would
convey strong conceptual and theoretical development.This work would usually be carried out under limited supervision.


Overview of Assessment

A person who demonstrates competency in this unit will be able to realise the outcomes described in the Elements
to the required level detailed in the Performance Criteria. 

The ability to design and construct a 3-dimensional object(s) which:
   • demonstrates a command of selected advanced tools, techniques and materials which are consistent with the
design concept
   • demonstrates a sound knowledge of the design process
   • demonstrates an ability to experiment and refine conceptual vision
The essential knowledge and skills must be assessed as part of the unit.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Students will be guided through a series of tools, materials and techniques and then encouraged to experiment with and then apply them to topical project work.
