Course Description

This unit applies to senior public relations professionals who manage public relations in the not-for-profit sector-they usually coordinate activities of team members in developing funding submissions or allocating budgets, and implement specific public relations activities.

1.4. Identify and consider legal and ethical requirements in relation to fundraising or sponsorship
1.5. Make recommendations for fundraising or sponsorship campaigns or activities based on research findings
 

 2.1. Evaluate organisation’s current operations and readiness to apply for funding
2.2. Develop a funding submission which meets the funding source’s guidelines and criteria

Learning Outcomes


This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to conduct and manage fundraising and sponsorship activities for a not-for-profit organisation, and to align fundraising and sponsorship activities with organisational requirements.


Details of Learning Activities

Analyse and describe current or past sponsorship and fundraising events using various concepts and tools. Suggest ways the sponsorship or fundraiser could have been improved, in hindsight. Apply skills in finding information using online resources, books, journals and newspapers. Apply Harvard referencing skills. Completed as individual activities or group activities

Sponsorship is becoming increasingly important, and being able to attract sponsors is a valuable skill that Public Relation specialists require. This assignment therefore requires that an attractive proposal is developed and presented both in a written and oral format as would be completed for an employer. Will be a Group activity.

Overview of Assessment

Students must demonstrate an understanding of all elements of a particular competency to be deemed competent. Assessment methods have been designed to measure achievement of each competency in a flexible manner over a range of assessment tasks.

Assessment will incorporate a variety of methods including assignments, journals, presentation and written or test. Students are advised that they are likely to be asked to personally demonstrate their assessment work to their teacher to ensure that the relevant competency standards are being met.

Assessment 1 Sponsorship and/or Fundraising activities
Individual activities

Assessment criteria:
 Application of fundraising and sponsorship management concepts and tools to answer the questions
 Good use made of a variety of resources (2 must be hard copy, 2 must be online)


Assessment 2 Sponsorship Proposal
Group Activity
Sponsorship is becoming increasingly important, and being able to attract sponsors is a valuable skill that Public Relation specialists require. This assignment therefore requires that an attractive proposal is developed and presented both in a written and oral format as would be completed for an employer.

SECTION TWO – Oral Presentation

Submission Requirements: All assessment tasks need to be submitted via Blackboard.
