Course Description
In this course you will further develop your business decision- making skills. This is demonstrated by you making strategic and operational business decisions based on real-world or simulated case studies set under market or industry conditions. You will be required to use a range of business performance evaluation techniques, along with accounting and business reports to undertake strategic planning and operational decision-making. Therefore, you will be learning both the technical and social practice of decision making in the business context. This course includes a Work Integrated Learning experience. You will undertake and be assessed on authentic activities that allow you to learn, apply and demonstrate your professional or vocational practice. This course also provides you with a capstone experience, which will provide you with the opportunity to integrate, critically reflect on and consolidate what you have learnt in your program.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development
This course provides you with the opportunity to develop the following specific capabilities:
- knowledge and understanding of and skill in practical application of business performance analysis
- knowledge and understanding of strategic business planning and skill in making tactical, commercial, operational decisions
On the successful completion of this course you will be able to:
CLO1: Analyse the internal and external factors that influence the strategic decisions of an organisation.
CLO2: Research and analyse accounting, market and industry information for strategic planning and implementation.
CLO3: Revise and adapt strategy to changing internal and external factors to maximise organisation performance.
CLO4: Demonstrate the ability to communicate professionally when presenting, reflecting, and reporting knowledge and decisions
Overview of Learning Activities
The main objective of this course requires you to make strategic and operational decisions for a company. Your learning experience may include lectures, individual/ group work exercises, quizzes, and presentations in a blended learning environment. Your learning experience outside of class time requires you to complete assignments and required readings, produce written work and collaborate with peers on set tasks or projects.
